Moving abroad or renting out your home?
Changes in circumstances may mean that you have had to move abroad and rent out your home. Most lenders in these scenarios are happy to allow consent to let on a short-term basis but this tends to only be for a one to two year period or until a current fixed rate ends.
At this point, most lenders would need you to redeem the mortgage and go elsewhere and the knock-on effect is that many UK banks and building societies are not able to facilitate this either. Alternatively, you may live abroad and want to purchase a property in the UK purely for investment purposes but have found communicating with banks difficult due to time zones or that they are not able to consider the country you live in.
